The white screen of death on submit: One thing you should look for

So I'm hacking away at a custom module, testing it as we go along. Everything seems to be falling into place. Drupal is so cool to be developing in - until we move the module to the production server - when things start to get interesting.

On enabling the module and clicking Save Configuration, we are presented with a white screen (the configuration is saved, though). In fact, any post request throws us a white screen. Panic!

Nope the error logs are clean. No warnings either. Hiking the PHP memory limit didn't help.

The design we launched with was put together in a hurry. It was hardly awe inspiring.

  • Put together in about 3 hours
  • Is created from the scratch. Sorry Zen.
  • "position: fixed" for the menu. Not great in IE 6. But who cares?

Is a website ever 'complete'?

I often find people trying to 'complete' a website, the way they would complete, say, a brochure printing project so that the never have to visit it again. Or at least for a long time to come. This is a very bad strategy to follow for your website.
